Farewell to 2011 & Welcoming 2012

2011 has been a very packed and special year for me.

I feel as though a lot of my statuses has been changed and transformed overnight.

I am now a Mdm. An Auntie. A Housewife. Living in sydney.

Really thank God for His plans for me this entire year.

Jan: Earlier in 2011, I had the opportunity and moved to a new branch to Dhoby Ghaut, where i made more sales, had more $$$, got promoted and definitely happier @ work every single day!

April: 2011 also was the year i finally treated myself to HongKong. Had always wanted to go, but no chance to go in the past. I stepped into a "disneyland" for the very first time in my 25 years on earth. Kinda fulfilled my "childhood fantasy" :)

June: We also went to Taiwan for our wedding photoshoot! I thought the pictures would turn out a disaster because i felt so "not-me" in the shoots. but thankfully, we liked them a lot!! It was certainly a happy time spent in Taiwan!

Oct: Probably, the most exciting month of the year! Firstly, I earned myself a fully paid recognition trip to Phuket in October. Kind of like a "bachelorette hen's party trip" before my wedding!

And of course, after "patohing" for the past 4 years, we were hitched on the 23rd Oct 2011!
Ever since Keeliang's departure to Sydney in July to Oct. I really thank my friends, family and HIM for making the actual wedding run so perfectly and smoothly, despite very minimal planning and preparations.

We had a fantastic entourage on our wedding day. Not because they were very experienced. or that they were very responsible. We had a fantastic team because they are all our very dearest friends, who have taken time to partake this special journey with us!

Keeliang also had his version of his Vows to me. Hahhaa. Now i finally know why when i suggested this to my jie meis during saboh discussion, they all told me it will not be valid one....
I am just 2 months into my marriage life, and i can see the promises he made to me....
"boh pah kei one..." the vows he signed, is just for Bai Sui.... Hopefully he keeps the 2 most important vows, I'll be very happy already.
-- I will give you all my money $$$
-- I will upgrade your diamond ring every year.... :)

Throughout the highlights of the day, tea ceremony became a very important tradition that i have come to know of. Personally, it was a touching and meaningful gesture as i greet my new parents and siblings and family.

Of course, on this wedding day, it was not just us and our parents being very excited and happy.
Someone drink "DA-GE & DA-SAO" tea also very happy.
Well, a picture speaks a thousand words, so... here is the EVIDENCE:

Well, back to the real exchange of Vows, We were very nervous during the exchange of our vows. I wonder if it is because we didn't memorize it well, or because we know that the vow is IT already. A commitment for a lifetime, till death do us part. It is indeed a solemn vow. which we are both starting our little footprints on this looooong journey ahead of us. Really, God has to be the center and holder of our marriage. Nothing should be taken for granted and we treasure how fate has brought us together.

We also had our banquet at the place where it all first began. Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.
That was where I first met Keeliang at his Officer Commissioning Ball. How time flies! that was 7 Years ago when i was just 19 and he was just 21, when his waist was just 28! :)

I still recall that when we started dating a few years later, we always dreamt that one day we would hold our wedding banquet at this very place where we first met. And know what, It was Kenneth who drove his dad's mercs to pick us up from the hotel during October 2005!!!
And in October 2011, It was Kenneth who drove his dad's New Mercs to this hotel for our wedding ceremony!! Hehehe. I know alumni is going to say that i very superstitious. But that's how life is! I don't believe it is just a mere coincidence! :)

And like all my other married friends say, it is indeed true that the march in at the church aisle and banquet hall was the most magical!

Being happily married for 2 months now. I really feel grown up. no longer an individual who has all the time in the world for herself. My life has expanded to another daddy mummy brother sister. and of course, a hubby. I feel that i am at the best peak of my life thus far. May we always have this feeling when we turn 30, 40, 50 ---- 80! The best has yet to come!!

Thank GOd for his goodness and my friends for their generosity. we had more than enough for the banquet and even had a wonderful honeymoon in Tokyo! Disneyland, again. hahaha.

Of course, the end of 2011, has also marked my temporary end in my 27 months in HSBC.
I really think that God has the best timetable. After leaving, I really could not have asked for a more perfect timing. With so many changes and on-going plans for me if i were still to be there, I know that my heart is at peace and pleased when i finally bid goodbye to my daily affair at HSBC.

Looking onwards, 2012, definitely an exciting time for me and keeliang. In terms of our careers, family, spiritual, social. Everything which used to be so familiar to us has become so new. Even the house we stay, the food we eat, even the weather we are in, has become something new for us to experience and learn.

I know it will lead me to depend on Him more and more. And why not? So, i look forward to 2012 and the many adventures it will bring to my bag of bones! :)

Signing off,
Karen
